Visiting an Inmate at Travis County Jail
When you visit Travis County Jail in, it’s important to follow safety rules. Here’s what you should do:
- Staff will clean the visitation stations after each visit to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- We will mark chairs in the lobby to indicate where to sit for maintaining a safe distance from others.
- Only two people can visit face-to-face at a time, except if there are kids under 12, then it’s three.
- Kids under 17 need to be with a parent or guardian.
- Everyone 17 or older needs a photo ID.
- If you arrive late, we may cancel your visit, and you will need to sign up for the next available time.
- Wait in the main lobby until it’s your turn to visit.
- When told by staff, go to your assigned booth.
- After the visit, leave the area quickly.
Rules for Visitors
- Each visit allows a maximum of two visitors, except when children under 12 are present (three visitors permitted).
- All visitors aged 17 and above must show a valid government-issued photo ID.
- Late arrivals for scheduled visits may be denied entry and must re-register for the next available slot.
- Visitors must dress modestly; tank tops, short shorts, revealing clothing, and gang attire are strictly prohibited.
- Outside food or drinks are not permitted in the visitation area.
